In Discord And Rhyme - Unseen Duran Duran 1981
UPDATED INFO: 20th JANUARY 2021
Cherry Lipstick is delighted to announce the publication in February 2021 of 'In Discord and Rhyme - Unseen Duran Duran 1981'. It is our new special photo edition fanzine celebrating the 40th anniversary of Duran's rise to fame in 1981.
In Discord and Rhyme follows Duran Duran via previously unseen photos by Justin Thomas (Kings of the Dark Moon) from niche New Romantics to pop stars with a mass fanbase.
Justin said, “These previously unseen photos show Duran Duran backstage and onstage at the Rum Runner, around the UK on their tours that year, and at London parties. You'll also see my photos from the infamous show in Paris where EMI bussed in a coach-load of New Romantics (in full fashion glory) from Birmingham!”
Justin adds his own commentary and memories of 1981 alongside the photos to bring this amazing document of an astonishing year to life.
1981 saw Duran Duran release four hit singles, make one of rock's greatest debut albums, and start their iconic career in video. Celebrate the year that Duran Duran launched onto the world and started their 40-year career here!
Cherry Lipstick is a Duran Duran fanzine that started in 1993. We relaunched online in 2017. In Discord and Rhyme will be our fourth print fanzine since 2019.

A message from Adam:
For Cherry Lipstick's regular readers who follow such things, this issue is recorded as Volume 4 Issue 1. Volume 3 encompassed the launch of the website in April 2017, and reached an ending with the completion of our album review series in the fanzine in September 2020. As loyal readers, I hope you like this new direction.
